Irons Harder to Hit?…You Should Think About Adding Hybrid or Utility Clubs to Your Bag!

A huge and growing percentage of touring golf professionals are adding hybrid or so called rescue clubs to their golf bags. Most professional golfers are so good at what they do, that they will seldom make a miss hit even with the hardest to hit clubs, however with hybrid irons they get a club that hits higher and lands softer, without any loss of distance, than the iron it is replacing. Just the fact that hybrid clubs are easier to hit may not be the only motivation for these changes. Consider that the right hybrid can replace two harder to hit irons allowing for the addition of maybe an additonal wedge to their club selection. We weekend warrior golfers should be learning from what we are seeing, for us, who do not always hit every club pure, adding a hybrid or two to our arsenal is even more dramatic. When was the last time you put a new wedge in your golf bag? Top golfers have up to 4 wedges in their bag.

Cutting the number of stokes you have to make from 100 yards and in will have a bigger impact on lowering you golf score than somehow hitting your drive 40 yards farther. Yet most golfers will pine for a new high tech $700+ plus driver, when a new $40 wedge will make a far greater difference. Think about it for a minute, a driver is not a finese club, it is a “hope I hit right club”, you tee up the ball and hit it as hard as you can and pray for 300 yards down the middle, however you can’t stop one 5 feet from the cup. A good wedge player, might have up to 4 different wedges in his bag and knows how to hit one of them to within 5 feet of the cup from almost anywhere within 100 feet of the green.
